Egg-cellent Day!

I asked the kiddos what they thought the incubator was for and they had some fantastic and creative answers: for bees, an ice maker, an oven, and an egg painter, for example. They were all very curious.

We talked about hatching chicks and the special, colorful eggs we had that would grow little chicks inside. Since we couldn't have a mommy hen sit on our eggs in the classroom, the incubator would keep the eggs warm and cozy so they can grow into chicks. We cracked open an egg to see inside before it started growing.

And we drew our observations. We'll be doing several observational drawings over the next few weeks. Around day 12, we'll try to hold a bright light to the eggs to get a peek inside to what's developing.

Stay tuned for egg-citing egg updates! First pips should be in 21 days!
