Team Kindness Strikes Again!

Our little kindness elves were busy again today.
We started by spreading a bit of kindness and good cheer around our school neighborhood.
Ready? Set? Go!!
We took a walk in the brisk January air and left our kindness rocks on the sidewalk and steps of the homes near school.

Our last little rock was left on a swing across the street at Atwater.

We are hoping that the folks who find our special rocks will smile and have a better day because of our messages.
When we got back to school we got right to work again on making special 'thank you' pictures for the office staff,
parish staff, and lunch ladies.
Making the deliveries is so fun!

Hmm, he looks pretty good in Mr. Berg's chair:)

We also received a special email from Mr. Sorce about all the pictures we left on his 'Engineer' door yesterday.
He was sooooo happy:)
It's feels really special to be kind:)

Catholic Schools Week - Color Wars

Today, we enjoyed a sneak peek of the Variety Show
and afterwards seized the opportunity for
a BIG photo opp of the entire kindergarten.
4K and 5K rocked the color war!

We were a beautiful sea of pink and red:)
Tomorrow is Sports Fan Day!

Story Elements in Pre-K

Over the past month the children have been immersed in learning about some basic story elements like the CHARACTERS and SETTING in a story. They are becoming masters at identifying the main character in a story which we often refer to as the STAR character.
The children have drawn pictures of a variety of characters from many of our stories, as well as some of the settings.
Here is one of the anchor charts we made.
We are extending our learning about characters by trying to make connections with them.
By relating to the characters, they become more real to us.
This is a very high-level task, yet the children are really becoming deep thinkers.
This is an anchor chart we made after reading the story
Tacky the Penguin.
This story was truly a class favorite because it is so fun to
use different voices for each character as you read.
Tacky is an odd bird, but we could ALL relate to him:)!

Catholic Schools Week - Crazy Hair/MisMatch Day

Another fun Catholic Schools Week day is behind us:)
Lots of crazy hairdos and mismatched clothes
came into school today.
We hardly recognized some of the children.
We had some silly fun showing off our craziness.
It's so fun to be silly with a friend by your side!

We even made a quick class book, so we would remember how silly everyone looked.
Then we got busy painting some beautiful kindness rocks.

Our teacher will write inspirational words and messages on them and we are going to deliver them secretly around the school neighborhood tomorrow.
It is our hope that whoever finds each of our rocks
will have a great day because of it:)
Oh, we can't forget about DROP EVERYTHING AND DANCE!
It happened again this morning:)

The kindness fairies tip-toed down to Mr. Sorce's
office to decorate his door this afternoon.

We think he will be so surprised tomorrow
morning when he comes to school.
 Who is this masked man?!?
Don't forget tomorrow is COLOR WARS DAY!!
4K and 5K need to wear RED and/or PINK.
