Lunch has been going VERY well this year. We sit in the back corner of the lunchroom, but are totally in-tune with what the 5K and first graders are doing.
We begin by praying with all of our other big friends in the lunch room.
The children have learned to balance eating with conversation and are exercising polite manners too. No lunch period would be complete without a few 4-year-old jokes. Too funny!!
A favorite part of our lunch period is listening to Mrs. Jordan read Ready Freddy chapter books to us. The kids LOVE these stories!!
The cold-lunchers do a wonderful job unpacking and getting most of their containers open independently too. They are also very helpful to each other.
When lunch is over, it is time to clean-up. Hot lunchers need to place their silverware into a bucket.
The children have also learned how to dump their leftover tray contents into the trash. These prekinders WANT to do these jobs by themselves!!
The cold lunchers know how to get their lunch bags all packed up too!
Tomorrow, November 1st, the children will move up to their 'official' 4K tables and go through the hot lunch line for the first time. I will continue to eat with them and slowly ween myself away, however Ms. Cat will remain with them throughout the year.
One of the most exciting things about sitting at our new tables is that we will now become prayer leaders and table washers too!! Woohooo!! What a thrill:)
