This morning we played such a fun game... mystery bag wood pieces! The children have learned the names of the wood pieces and know them very well (big line, little line, big curve, little curve). Taking away their sense of sight and only relying on their sense of touch, the children remained successful identifying the wood pieces by name. Yay!!
Of course, wearing a silly blindfold just added to the fun. I think it may have given the children super powers!!
A new tool was added to our Handwriting Without Tears workshops too. We learned how to use mini slates and played the 'Wet, Dry, Try' game to print letters. It was fun dipping our pointer fingers into water and then printing a letter on our own mini slate boards.
Children enjoy copying letters and it is good practice too. We like to be sure that the children are getting appropriate practice. So, if you see your child making letters, encourage him/her to start them "at the top."
