We Can Collaborate!

Although the children are only in pre-k, they are learning the skills of negotiation, collaboration, and problem solving. The full-day kiddos formed little groups of 3 or 4 and set out to solve the engineering challenge to build a cage to hold a pet. The cage had to be designed to keep the pet comfortable, safe, and provide food and water.
The first task was to agree on which pet to choose. After a bit of give and take, the choice was made.
The next task was so much fun. The collage boxes were set in the middle of the room and the kids were able to shop for fabrics, yarns, and ribbons, and they began adding things to their cage to provide a safe home for their pet, along with a place to hold food and water.

The children announced that they were not quite finished and they wanted their morning friends to help out too.

These are the finished projects... so far.

Lucky pets!
