First, drop some paint blobs on the bottom of a paper plate.
Next, place another plate on top of the paint blobs.
Lastly, do the twist... and it's even more fun if you sing the twist song. Come on baby, let's do the twist...
Whoa!!
That's so cool!!
We always end our afternoons, as well as our morning center times, with a sharing session about the discoveries that we encountered and new things we learned. This color discussion was truly amazing for this early in the school year. The children shared deep-level thinking.
- I noticed that the colors all mushed together.
- I made my colors disappear and made a new color.
- I saw that the dark colors made the light colors go away and made brown if I kept on twisting.
- If you twist a little, you see rainbow colors. If you twist a lot the colors get so dark.
- The florescent paint looks so cool.
We also try to end our sharing session with things we still wonder about or maybe questions that arose during our experimentations. Some of our wonders from this inquiry were:
- I wonder what would happen if we mixed brown with white?
- I wonder what would happen if we mixed all the colors?
We decided we will continue with our color inquiry by creating squishy bags to answer these questions.
