Seashell Scientists

The children used their senses to investigate seashells more closely.
We used our sense of sight and talked about what we saw,
but then closed our eyes and ONLY used our
sense of touch to describe the shell.

That was trickier, but the children used rich, descriptive words, without peeking, to describe the shells they were touching.
Their vocabularies have grown this year.

Each child chose ONE special shell to draw
and write about in their ocean journal.

They had to use a keen eye to draw like a scientist.

What fabulous observational skills these
children have gained this year.
Check out these amazing scientific sketches.
 (My shell is bumpy.)
 (My shell is pointy.)
  (My shell is striped.)

  (My shell is smooth.)

Way to go little scientists.
