Artsy Thursday

Week of the Young Child is almost over.
Today was Artsy Thursday!
Although everyday in pre-k is an artsy day, today
we intentionally celebrated creativity.

Some of the children had fun working together
to create a junk collage.

Liquid glue and junk is so fun to create with!

Other children set out to create ocean-themed drawings...
they aren't quite done yet, but we ran out of time.
So fabulous!
Some of the kids were interested in using some
of the recyclables we had handy.
This led to a mini-investigation of an artist named Chihuly who is famous for blowing glass sculptures.
I have a feeling we are not done being inspired by this artist.

We popped the plastic cups and containers in our little cookie oven and they began to shrink and melt in just a few seconds.
So cool!
They resembled Chihuly's 'macchias.'

(Ours are in the picture below!)
The kiddos were fascinated and have already
asked if we can make more Chihuly's!!
Stay-tuned:)
Make everyday an Artsy day and let your children create!!
