It's Winter in the Discovery Room

Our class loves to mix-up (messy) concoctions in the Discovery Lab, and last week we mixed up "cloud dough."

We talked about how snowflakes form high in clouds from just a tiny speck of dust or pollen.

So we measured and mixed our own soft cloud of snow using baby oil and flour.

The "dough" was so soft and fluffy.

We've been building amazing winter habitats!

Painting the details on our finger paint snowperson pictures in art...

I love these- each is as unique as the artist!

We got some movement with "Snowball Bowling."  Setting up the snow-pins...

Lots of strikes! I think we should start a 4K bowling league!

Some of the kiddos were fascinated by icebreaker ships that can break through thick ice.  We looked at some pictures and they built some incredible icebreakers of there own in the  Lego center!

We froze "paint cubes" overnight.  When we took them out of the freezer the next day, it was exciting to see and touch the different colored cubes.

We quickly scurried back to our classroom with our cubes to paint with ice!

Science, sensory and art! Soooo cool!

I love seeing the kiddos grow by leaps and bounds as the weeks go by!
