Blessing of the Doors

Father Peter Patrick came to visit our classrooms this week
and he took us in the hall to bless our doorway.

On the Feast of the Epiphany, it is tradition to gather and ask for God's blessing on our classroom (or home) for us and all those who visit our class. It is an invitation for Jesus to be a daily guest in our classroom (home), our comings and goings, our conversations, our work and play, our joys and sorrows.
A traditional way of doing this is to use chalk to write above the classroom or home entrance. It can also be written on the inside.
The letters C,M, B have two meanings:
They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Casper, Melchior, and Balthazar
They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus mansionem benedicat, "May Christ bless this house."
The + sign represent the cross and the 2018 is the year.
Thank you, Father Peter Patrick
