It's a ZOO out There!!

We had a WILD week exploring zoo animals.
We built many different types of zoos.
Made zoo maps.
The children also made videos giving tours of
their zoos and put them in their journals.
Awesome job!
The zoos were filled with creative zoo animals.
Who knew handprints could be turned
into so many different zoo animals?
Wrote zoo stories.
Performed in zoo plays.
Measured zoo animals.
Built zoo trains!
WOW!
Creativity went wild with zoo tinker trays.
Some of the children even turned into zoo animals!
Sensory trays are always lots of fun,
especially outside!!
Building zoo habitats helps our learning come alive!
Polar habitats were perfect for a nice, warm, sunny day!
ROAR!!!!

Caterpillar to Butterfly - creepy crawlies part 2

Our little entomologists continued on their creepy crawly inquiry, but shifted to learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly.
A main story focus was reading...

These little people were spot-on with their story predictions.
It is a great story for retelling and practicing sequencing skills.
We had so much fun doing caterpillar math;
making patterns and using patterns to create addition equations,
and counting caterpillar body parts to match the numbers.
(printing with a cork)
Creative caterpillars.
or are they magna-pillars?!?
 Balloon stamping caterpillar.
Name caterpillars.
Beautiful butterfly art creations.
Here's a way to color the wings and practice
reading color words and sorting:)
Creative edible caterpillars and butterfly
snacks were invented and eaten:)
Even siblings got in on this action:)
Lovely lifecycle posters.
Beautiful stories were written too!
One of our little friends even hatched some real caterpillars and was able to release TEN butterflies at the park.
Stay-tuned for our next theme.
It's a WiLd one!!
