Each child has his/her own book bin. The bin houses a few guided reading books, as well as a variety of alphabet cards to 'read' and sound sheets, as well as shape and color cards to reinforce content and skills that some children are already proficient at, while others are still practicing.
Over the past two weeks, we have been filling the bins with all these different things and practicing how to use these tools during read-to-self time. Next week we will put it into action.
At this time, the children are learning 3 ways to read a book during 'read-to-self' time.
Next week we will begin to learn the procedure of what it looks like and sounds like in our room when everyone is reading to self.
