Today, the children learned that 'Mardi Gras'
means 'Fat Tuesday' in French.
It is the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the Christian Lenten season leading up to Easter.
During Lent, many Christians fast, and the name Fat Tuesday refers to the last day of eating richer foods before the leaner days of Lent begin.
We enjoyed decorating Mardi Gras masks.
Who are these masked children?!?
Painting Mardi Gras paintings.
Having fun with pretend play!
Our day ended with a real Mardi Gras parade.
So fun!!
We also learned that this is the last day we will
sing the Alleluia until Easter.
ALLELUIA!
