There is no better time of year to learn
about the post office and all the
different postal workers than February.
With so many Valentines to write and deliver it is
the perfect opportunity to set-up shop in pre-k
Talking on the phone and dealing with customers helped us to strengthen our speaking and listening skills.
The children had the opportunity to write letters, notes and cards to family, friends and even other teachers in the building.
Some children tried stretching their own sounds and others took advantage of copying a real message or a name from the
wall or from conversation hearts that were available.
This was just perfect for practicing
letter formation in a fun, purposeful way.
The children even learned how to properly address
an envelope and had fun purchasing stamps.
The kiddos took turns being the mail carrier and
desk clerk and looked very official too.
Sorting the boxes by size helped us strengthen math skills too.
What will the post office turn into next?!?
