Squirrel Drey Detectives

We went on a walk last Friday looking for squirrel dreys.

Squirrel dreys are large leafy nests built by squirrels in forks of trees.

We also found a bird's nest on our walk and we observed the differences in the nests.

We all drew our squirrel drey observation when we returned to school...we must have seen 25 nests!

One of the kids noticed this squirrel right outside our window in the afternoon! He has built a drey in the tree outside the classroom.  We noticed how he uses his tail to keep his neck warm- just like we read about in our book that morning! I hope Mr. Squirrel makes cameo appearances all winter!
