Little Scientists

In the Discovery Lab last week, we did some dry ice experiments...

Dry ice, frozen CO2, turns into CO2 gas when it's in water, causing all kinds of steaming...

and bubbly fun with the addition of some dishsoap!

The little scientists predicted what they thought would happen when the ice and water, and soap, combined.

Of course, we talked about how scientists are always safe when experimenting!

We did a fun "screaming pan" experiment when a little bit of ice makes a loud squeaky sound when it is in contact with metal (because the warm metal melts the ice and the gas escapes around the metal, making the squeaky sound).

We wore our scientist safety glasses!

Our scientists know that science is so fun!
