Election Day Fun

This week, the prekindergartners are learning a little bit about
democracy and the importance of doing their civic duty by voting.
We set up our polling place complete with 2 voting
booths and a campaign headquarters.
The children have been making campaign posters and
voting signs and practicing the production of letters.
Each day the ballot has something new for us to vote on;
favorite colors, animals, food, etc...
We learned that voting allows a large group of people to
narrow the choices down to one choice... the winner!
Voter turn-out has been very good!
These little voters waited so patiently in line for their turn.
The campaign volunteers did an amazing job explaining to
all the voters exactly WHO was on the ballot so they would
know who they were voting for.
Today, the children voted for a new Governor...
we had a new candidate on our ballot.
Putting the ballot in the secret ballot box was very fun!
You can ask your child WHO the winner was.
Hands down, it was a landslide:)
After voting, we got a special sticker to let everyone
know we are proud to be an American.
Feel free to drop in to vote any day this week:)
