Halloween and the 5 Senses

Our pumpkin unit was filled to the brim with LOTS of opportunities for learning about the 5 senses
God has blessed us with.
When you're in pre-k, it's so easy to sneak more
learning into the midst of holiday fun, so this
week we were all about Halloween.
We used our eyes to see the spooky colors of Halloween
and our hands to feel all the wonderful textures the world has to
offer when making our Halloween collages.
Our ears worked over time as we listened to the clunking and crashing of the marbles on the side of a container as our eyes watched the painted marbles spin a spooky web.

Of course, our little engineers had to use their sense of sight
as they worked carefully to build structures to
carry pumpkins and scary Halloween characters.
We also thought it would be fun to use trick-or-treat candy as a prop for building pumpkin structures.
Working out at the finger gym this week has caused our ears to hear the tap, tap, tapping sound of the hammer against the golf tee, but this would not have been possible without using our eyes
to aim the tee into the side of the pumpkin.
Our mystery feely box had nothing at all to do with Halloween, but we sure had fun trying to blindly match the textured squares.
The kiddos said it was like a haunted house:)
We are so thankful God has given us our sense of sight to see all the beautiful pumpkins growing in our pumpkin patch this week.
Our senses of sight and touch came in handy as we stretched rubber bands around the pegs on our geo-pumpkin.
Our little fingers got a good work out too:)
Our writing tray turned a little bit spooky this week when we filled it with black sand and scary Halloween characters.
The sand felt so scratchy on our fingers.
The black cats even showed up on our letter cards!
Thank you God, for giving us 5 senses to
learn about your beautiful world!
