Autumn Fun

Last week I introduced a new center...the "Maker's Box." It's filled with recycled materials- lids, tubes, containers of all shapes and sizes, scrap paper, interesting odds and ends, and lots and LOTS of tape.

The children draw their plan before they make something...they're practicing many fine motor skills cutting and taping, but also developing critical and creative thinking skills.

And having SO much fun taping and creating!

We played more games in the Math center...

We built, drew and rolled (in play dough) numbers in number workshops...

During our afternoons last week we created natural Autumn sculptures from clay and natural materials.

The little sculptors first formed their clay and then chose their materials.

More learning through play...

We took a fall scavenger hunt around the school looking for signs of fall...sooo exciting when we found sticks, squirrels, leaves, and bugs!
