Making Applesauce

First, collect a variety of fresh, juicy apples.

Second, gather a roomful of kiddos who will excitedly wash,

dry,

and chop

every last apple.

We used butter knives to cut the apples into pieces and talked about how to cut safely. The children did a great job being careful and conscientious...an awesome confidence builder as they accomplished a "grown-up" job!

After the apples were chopped, it was time to add the spice-

Each kiddo added just a touch- not too much!

Finally, the most important ingredient of all- a sprinkle of love into the pot!

After about 2 hours...yum...

Not done yet- time to mash,

smash,

mush

and smush

the apples into sauce.

Tasting time! The  applesauce was completely created by the kids and they were very proud of themselves!
