Last Week & Thankful in 4K

Last week we continued talking about awesome animal adaptations.  We wondered where beavers live and graphed our ideas...

We dressed like beavers and copied some of their amazing adaptations: life jackets for their layer of fat to keep them warm, flippers for web feet, goggles for a beaver's clear inner eyelid that allows them to see under water and a thick coat of fur that keeps them dry when they are swimming.

(The kiddos thought the flippers were the most fun!)

The engineering challenge was to build a beaver dam that would prevent water from passing to the other side.

The kiddos looked at pictures of real beaver dams in our non-fiction books, and built dams from clay, rocks, and sticks that would make any beaver proud!

Whoooo-whooo!  In art, a tall box transformed into a tree for owls!

We searched for numbers in the "snow"...

and created thankful turkeys with our big buddies.

I hope all of you had a blessed and relaxing holiday with your families!  There is so much to be thankful for.  I am looking forward to seeing all of the smiling faces tomorrow morning!
