Animal Adaptations in 4K

We had a special visitor last week.

We are learning about how different animals adapt to help them live in their environments.

Woolly Bear Caterpillars are able to freeze and hibernate all winter long until spring warms them up.  They have a special "antifreeze" in their cells that allows them to survive freezing temps.  They become Isabella Tiger moths in the spring.

Have you found one of these fuzzy guys in your yard this fall?

The children were so gentle with this little creature! He was a friendly little guy!

Some of our animals became frozen in arctic ice!  Would saltwater help them break free?

Challenge: Can you build a tower taller than you from 100 cups?  Another accomplishment, engineers!

Bird beak adaptations:  Why would birds like pelicans, owls, robins and hummingbirds have different beaks?

We talked about what these birds eat and tried out their "beaks."
