Mini-Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

This week we have been learning about the lifecycle of a pumpkin and Otto shared that he had a pumpkin patch growing in his garden. This afternoon his mom came to school after lunch and walked us over to their home to see it in real-life.

We saw a real pumpkin vine. It was so twisty and VERY long. We tried to follow it in and out and all around the other plants.

We found many pumpkin flowers still growing and of course pumpkins, even a little pumpkin just beginning to grow.

We even found a pumpkin that the animals have been eating.
As a side bonus to this little extravaganza, we were able to pick gourds. Otto helped us to learn the proper technique... twist, twist, twist and pull! Everyone got to pick a special gourd to take home too! So special!!

Mrs. Lehmann surprised us with a pumpkin tasting party; pumpkin breads, roasted pumpkin seeds, and cooked pumpkin. It was pretty chilly out, but we sipped on warm apple cider. So yummy!

We even found a few raspberries still growing in the backyard!

This was the BEST pumpkin trip I have ever been on:)
A great BIG thank you!!
