No trip would be complete without a ride on a very bumpy bus. For most kids, this is the best part!
We arrived at the nature center and met our tour guides and then watched a quick film on 'Autumn at the Audubon.'
Then it was time to head out into the woods.
Please note that I could only be with one group with the way the trip was set up, sooooo only half the kiddos got in the pictures:(
Heigh ho, heigh ho it's off to the woods we go!
Hunting for pinecone cobs!
Looking at milkweed seeds.
Fly away little seeds!
Learning about the sugar maple and where syrup comes from.
Chlorophyll, chlorophyll go away.
Let the other colors come out and play!
Mushrooms play a key role in the decomposition of a tree and make good rich soil for seeds to find a home to begin growing.
Miss Brooke taught us the difference between horns and antlers. Horns last the lifetime of the animal, but the male deer sheds his antlers each winter and grows new ones in the spring.
So pretty!
Check out the reflection!
It's a bat house!
Yikes!
Yay! We finally found our other friends!!
Thank you, God for the beauty of autumn!
