Apple STEAM

The full day children read a story called Ten Apples Up on Top and had a great time integrating content areas to bring the story to life. We like to call this 'Story Time STREAM.'

The little engineers were challenged with building a structure that could hold 10 real apples. The children figured out that the structure had to be built wider to actually fit that many apples. It took several trials before the goal was accomplished.
It was also lots of fun re-enacting the story and trying to balance a real apple on our own heads. So silly. When we were finished with this activity it was easy to understand WHY fresh fruit needs to be handled with care. The apple got all bruised and gushy. Ewwwww.
We've been creating apple art all week. Hope you enjoyed the little sponge painted tree and had fun hearing your child recite our weekly poem.
