Leprechaun Trap Shenanigans

The 4K students engaged in designing traps to catch,
BUT not hurt, a little leprechaun.

They had to consider his small size, what would attract him to the trap, and finally how to trip the trap so that it would capture him.
We heard he loves green, shamrocks, and GOLD!!
A complimentary little sign couldn't hurt either.
First, we had to create an organized space and sort our recyclables.
Thank you for sending in so many great items.

Next, it was time to shop for all our necessary materials.
So many choices!

Let the constructing begin...

Some children decided to combine their ideas and collaborate together to build one grand trap, others stuck to their design and got right to work.

At times the room looked like one big grand mess, BUT... part of creating is cleaning, so the kiddos got the job done!
Check-out the finished products.
The designs were all so creative.

Be sure to take the time to allow your child to explain his/her thinking. Sometimes the drawing may not look like much to an adult eye, but the thinking is very complex and high level.
Stay-tuned until tomorrow to find out whether or not we were successful catching that green little mischievous man who we call
Lucky the Leprechaun!

(Watch for another post containing the traps from the Discovery Lab.)
