Designing Leprechaun Traps

The prekindergarten children have been busy putting their engineering skills to work designing traps to catch a little leprechaun... WITHOUT hurting him!!
Here's the challenge:
These little designers got right to work trying to solve the problem posed and had wonderful, well-thought out ideas. The fun part was using graph paper to help us feel like real engineers.

 Yay!!
Proud little people!
For the actual building process, we brought in the experts... our 4th grade BIG buddies!
They listened to the little ones explain their ideas for capturing the leprechaun, then together they gathered the recyclables needed and got right to work upcycling the items.

  They assisted with taping,
   cutting,
  and balancing things.

 Big buddies are THE BEST!!

 Taa-daaaa!!
If you have some time before Thursday, stop in for a close-up look at all the wonderful traps on display in our hallway.

These kids are tricky trying to lure that green little man up the stairs with some paper gold:)
Thanks to all the parents for sending great stuff for us to use to build our traps!!
