Ten Apples Up on Top

The full-day students spend part of their afternoons
 engaged in STREAM Tinker Time.
The acronym stands for Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
The children are learning what the acronym means and try to identify the activities we do and which letter they fall under.
I base the activities around a read aloud.
R = Reading
We read Ten Apples Up on Top and boy did we have fun!!
S = Science
We predicted whether or not apples would float of sink.
Ask us for the results!
We also did observational drawings of apples
and learned that scientists draw what they see with a
scientists eye and don't add any creativity to it.
 Takes lots of concentration!
T = Technology
The children took pictures on the iPad of apple activities
they were proud of and added them to their portfolios.
E = Engineering and M = Mathematics
The challenge this week was to build a block
structure that would support 10 real apples.
Is this 10?
This fun challenge carried over to the morning so
our half-day friends could give it a try too:)
 Is this 10?
 We did it!
This is 10!
Ten apples up on top!
We are learning that often times the different
disciplines can be combined in one activity.
A = Arts
As you saw in a previous apple post, lots of creative
and process apple art happened this week.
We also acted out part of the story and tried to
balance apples on our heads.

 Whoa... TWO apples up on top!!
 Even other teachers like to come and play with us
and try our challenges:)
Falling apple in motion!!
So fun!
So silly and so challenging!
