Visualizing Pre-K Style

Just before the closing of our school building
due to COVID-19, the prekindergarten children
were learning about the fine art of visualization.
So, how do you teach a prekindergartner
the concept of visualization?
By adding in a bit of magic and an element of play!!
Visualization is creating a mental image
based on what is read or told.
Who wouldn't want to wear a fun mask that
helps you see inside your brain?!
The children were listening as a very
descriptive poem was being recited.
They were painting an image inside their heads
using the words the author provided.
Next, they tried drawing what they visualized.
Literacy learning through play is the BEST!
When you are reading a story to your child,
consider covering the pictures and having your
child visualize what the images might look like.
Stopping at points during the story and allowing your child to draw what they are visualizing is lots of fun.
Compare the drawings to the illustrations in the book.
Happy visualizing!!
