Halloween week was the perfect time to learn
a bit about creepy crawly spiders.
We created a word web and brainstormed
things we knew about spiders.
Next, we read a few books and added more spider facts.
The full-day kiddos did a special project and actually became a talking spider and shared a few spider facts they learned.
Be sure to check your child's portfolio to 'listen' to his/her spider.

We tried our best to fall in love with spiders
'cause they really are helpful creatures.
Reading this silly book helped a lot!
We decided that playing about spiders and with
spiders really IS lots of fun.
Practiced our finemotor skills by trying
to extract spiders from a web.
Played MANY spider games during math workshops.
Tried to stretch a giant spider web in our big sensory table.
Our senses of hearing and sight were sure
happy as we spun little webs using marbles.
Today, our big buddies helped us to spin our own spider webs using yarn and sticks we found outside earlier this week.
They turned out pretty cool:)
Even transitions are fun when you pretend to be spiders.

Look at all these cute little spiders
moving from one room into the next:)
Can you understand why learning through play is so awesome??
